Read Academy is an inclusive school and recognises all children have their own individual educational needs. When we have identified a child is having difficulties and or is not progressing at a satisfactory pace a one page profile is created which helps identify the child’s strengths and weaknesses and addresses them with teaching strategies and intervention sessions that will help facilitate the progression of every child. Some children may additionally require learning support due to behavioural, emotional or learning-related difficulties which may require further investigation. Read Academy will then involve parents as soon as possible to ascertain the best course of action and create an ‘Individual Education Plan’ (IEP). Read Academy will make recommendations to parents to seek the advice and support of external agencies. The school will assist with this process and with implementing prescribed strategies to further the child’s development.
The SENCO will ensure that children with special educational needs and disabilities within our school will receive the support they need to achieve to their maximum potential.
